This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total disaster. We've tried just about everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Honestly, I don't know what else to do. This is a nightmare of epic proportions.
This is So Bad, It's Funny (Not Really)
Sometimes you stumble upon situations so terrible that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to understand the sheer extent of unadulterated absurdity and just gives up, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you remember that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you felt morphs into a groan.
In the end, you are left with a sense of confusion. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of bedhead hair. I couldn't make it to look right. As I was dashing out the door, I fell and spilled all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was totally behind schedule for a very important appointment.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
